What is virtual domain website hosting?

We specialize in virtual domain website hosting which means that you can find a home for your website with Snappy Design and establish a presence on the Internet for personal use or business purposes. We will handle the process of registering your domain name for you. There are several advantages of having a virtual domain name, some of which are outlined below:

  1. Having your own domain name does not suggest that you are renting webspace.
  2. Since E-mail can be addressed to your virtual domain (www.yourname.com) you will not have to announce a new web site URL and E-mail address if you change Internet providers.
 

Will I be able to access my domain name with or without the www?

Yes, you will be able to access the domain name with or without "www". For example, you could access the domain name "yourdomain.com" by going to "www.yourdomain.com" as well as "yourdomain.com". Try and visit Snappy Design at both http://www.snappydesign.com and just http://snappydesign.com.

 

Do you offer dial-up Internet access?

No, you will need local Internet access in order to maintain your website and retrieve E-mail addressed to your site. Providing a specialized service means that we do not have hundreds of modems to maintain enabling us to devote more time to our customers and focus on website hosting only.

 

Do you offer web design services?

Yes, we offer a variety of web design packages to meet your needs. We specialize in total E-Commerce solutions for businesses that are interested in selling their services or products online. Can I check domain name availability?

You can check whether or not a domain name is available using our domain check. Type in the domain name you want and the InterNIC information will be displayed if the domain name is taken. You can only search for top level domains (.com, .net, .org) from this web page.

 

Does Snappy Design handle domain registration?

If you register for your own domain name and purchase our hosting services, Snappy Design will handle the domain name registration with the InterNIC. Once you submit an order with us, we automatically send the new domain name application to Registrar for you. On the domain name record, you will be listed as the Administrative and Billing contact. Snappy Design will be listed as the Technical Contact.

 

Can I transfer an existing domain to Snappy Design?

You can transfer an existing domain to Snappy Design at any time. Snappy Design will even make the transfer "transparent". That is, if your domain is currently being hosted with another hosting service and you want to transfer the domain to our hosting services, we will set it up so that the domain transfers to our servers and no one will be able to tell. Your website will never be inaccessible while the domain is being transferred to our server.

Remember that Snappy Design will also handle the transfer application of your domain name as well. So you do not need to contact the InterNIC and request that your domain name is moved to our service.

 

How long does it take before my domain name is active?

Because we automate the process of registering your new domain name with Network Solutions, your domain name will be activated as quickly as possible. The new domain name application is sent to Network Solutions within a few minutes of your order being submitted to us.

New domain names could be active anywhere from 12 hours to 3 business days. It all depends on the InterNIC and not Snappy Design. We will have your account with your IP address setup within 24 hours of your order.

 

What is the fee for domain registration?

The cost for a .com .net .org .us and .ca domain name is $35 per year. We register domain names for hosting clients only.

 

Can I have multiple domains point to the same website?

You can have multiple domains point to the same domain for only $20.00 one time setup fee.

 

Can I have multiple domains point to different parts (directories) of the same account?

No, we do not allow you to have multiple domain names pointing to different areas of any one single account. Although some other providers offer this, there are some strong downsides to this service and therefore we have elected not to offer this service.

 

Can Snappy Design host non-U.S. domain names?

Yes, Snappy Design can host your non-U.S. domain name. You will need to have the organization who handles registration of the domain you are interested in point to our Domain Name Servers.

We do not handle billing or collection for non-U.S. domains as we expect those who issue the non-U.S. domain to contact you for billing.

 

Does offering 9 Gig/month data transfer slow down the server?

This is a very good question. Most people put too much importance on connectivity and pay less attention to the management of the line. You can be assured at Snappy Design, we make sure our connection has free resources so that your website is accessible 24 hours a day. We do not allow adult websites, "warez" or related sites that consume high bandwidth, we allow MP3s on our servers as long as they DO NOT violate copyright laws . Any copyrighted song or MP3 file (or other formats as well) will be cause for your account to be immediately suspended for violation of copyright laws without notice. These policies allow us to offer 9 Gig/month data transfer without slowing down our server response time. Our commitment to you is that we will keep our line at no more than 80% capacity at one time. Besides our customers demanding it, this is this reason that we can offer 9 gig bandwidth.

 

How do I transfer files to my website?

Files must be transferred to the web server via File Transfer Protocol (FTP). Internet providers such as AOL, Compuserve, and Prodigy may have a built-in FTP interface.

 

Will I have unlimited access to update my pages?

You have unlimited access via File Transfer Protocol (FTP) 24 hours a day. As such, you can create and maintain your web pages on your own computer and upload files to your website at your leisure.

 

Can I use my account for commercial purposes?

Yes, you can use your account for commercial purposes. The World Wide Web has become a most efficient and cost-effective means of making information available to the users of the internet community. If desired, Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) is available for all accounts which provides an environment whereby payment information (such as a credit card number) can be transmitted from web browser to web server in an encrypted mode.

 

Do you accept international orders ?

Yes. We are pleased to have customers around the world and we're as close as your computer. If desired, we can host non-US domain names.

 

What contract and payment terms are available?

We bill monthly, quaterly, six month or one year contract. We accept payment using credit card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express), PayPal and business cheques (local clients only). We accept international checks drawn on an affiliated bank in Canada in Candian dollars only. Final payment must equal the full invoice amount in Candian dollars otherwise there will be a remaining balance owed.

 

Do you offer technical support to customers?

Yes. We encourage our customers in need of assistance to send E-mail to our technical support department using our ticketed response system with questions or concerns about their website. However, we provide technical support only, we cannot provide help with HTML syntax or CGI programming problems.

 

How long does it take to set up a new account?

Orders submitted before 7:00 p.m. EST which include payment information (credit card and i-Check orders) will be processed the same day! Once your account is set up an activation notice will be sent to you via E-mail including a login, password, and FTP hostname. You can begin uploading files to your new website immediately thereafter. You will be given a temporary URL (IP address) to access your site via the web prior to the completion of either domain propagation or transfer.

 

How do I place an order?
